Biographical statement

Dr. Steven Kawut is the Director of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program and a Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His clinical and research interests focus on pulmonary vascular disease and lung transplantation. He has published more than 275 peer-reviewed papers on topics such as pulmonary arterial hypertension, hepatopulmonary syndrome, parenchymal lung disease, right ventricular function, and predictors of outcome before and after lung transplant. He has performed some of the first federally funded clinical trials of novel therapies in pulmonary arterial hypertension and hepatopulmonary syndrome. Dr. Kawut currently directs multicenter epidemiologic and interventional studies of pulmonary vascular disease.
