Elected 2024

I am a dual-boarded adult and pediatric nephrologist and physician scientist.  I completed my combined adult and pediatric nephrology fellowship at UCSF and joined the faculty in 2015.   My research agenda focuses on identifying strategies that may improve the long-term survival of patients with kidney disease. I am especially interested in populations who are at risk for health inequities, including racial and ethnic groups who have been minoritized in the US and young adults who are often underrepresented in clinical trials or observational studies.  I frequently leverage differences in the clinical approaches to the treatment of kidney disease in adult and pediatric medicine to understand and identify treatment strategies or health policies that can improve the outcomes of both children and adults with kidney disease.  Areas of interest currently include optimizing the management of cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension and improving access to kidney transplantation, both of which are important influences on the long-term survival of patients with chronic kidney disease.
