I am a physician–scientist specializing in cancer surgery and translational cancer research. I grew up in Northern California, then went to Brown University and NYU Medical School, where I stayed on for residency in head and neck surgery. After a clinical fellowship in head and neck oncologic surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), graduate training in biostatistics/bioinformatics at Columbia University, and postdoctoral training in cancer genetics in the lab of Dr. Timothy Chan, I joined the staff of MSK as a surgeon-scientist.

My clinical practice focuses on surgical and oncologic care for patients with cancers of the head and neck and thyroid, as well as salivary tumors and melanoma. My cancer genomics laboratory studies head and neck cancer and, more broadly, genetic mechanisms of immune evasion across many cancer types. To do this we perform multi-dimensional molecular, computational, and immunogenomic analyses of patient tumors, integrated with mechanistic investigation using preclinical models to uncover biomarkers, immunologic vulnerabilities, and new targets.
