Dr. Reddy’s research interest is to understand the biological mechanisms and to improve the clinical application of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). His lab focuses on immunobiology of acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) responses, the major complication and beneficial effect, respectively, of allogeneic HCT. Dr. Reddy’s laboratory aims to characterize the basic molecular and cellular interactions between the imune cells and host target cells and microbiome. His laboratory is now building on these crucial discoveries by taking a combination of both broad based discovery and reductionistic approaches to further elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms that characterize a tissues ability to be resilient and tolerate pathogenic inflammation and immunity. Another important line of work in Dr. Reddy’s laboratory is to apply the insights gained from understanding the basic biology into the development of novel immuno-modulatory approaches that can be translated into clinical HCT. His group has translatated several novel observations into early proof of concept clinical trails. His research is supported by multiple grants from NIH and non-profit foundations.
