Job board of the American Society for Clinical Investigation

Physician-Scientist Faculty Position in Laboratory Medicine at Yale

The Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine seeks a clinician-scientist for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Department. The successful candidate would be expected to spend 75% time or more in extramurally funded basic and/or translational investigative work in an area that would synergize with existing strengths at the Medical School and University. The particular field of investigation is not limited to any single area. The remaining effort would be in any clinical pathology clinical area along with educational duties. The Yale Laboratory Medicine Department has a long tradition of excellence in basic, translational, and clinical biomedical research. The Department also has a long-standing successful physician-scientist track residency program, physician-scientist track clinical fellowships in six subspecialties as well as a long-standing NIH-funded pre/post-doctoral research training program in Immunology-Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and in Microbiology-Virology. We have faculty especially strong in these areas, as well as in Bioengineering, Molecular Pathology, and Data Sciences. We seek excellent candidates who may qualify for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor level.

Candidates should be MDs or MD/PhDs who are Board certified/eligible in Clinical Pathology or in an appropriate subspecialty of Laboratory Medicine (for example, Hematopathology/Hematology, Transfusion, Microbiology, Informatics, Molecular Pathology) or other relevant Board (for example Medicine/Hematology, Medicine/ID, Pediatrics/Heme-Onc, or Genetics). Individuals who are clinical laboratory trained PhDs who are board certified or board eligible by the ABCC, ABMM, ASHI, or ABMGG who plan a clinician-scientist career are also encouraged to apply. Rank is dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications.
