Laboratory of Allergic Diseases
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
National Institutes of Health
Department of Health and Human Services
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) — a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) — is recruiting a tenure-track/tenure-eligible investigator in the Laboratory of Allergic Diseases (LAD) for the Division of Intramural Research (DIR).
LAD is seeking an outstanding scientist to develop a vigorous, independent program focused on the biology, pathogenesis and/or genetics of allergic diseases, and type 2 immunity. Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field with extensive postdoctoral experience, as well as a strong publication record demonstrating potential for creative research. The ideal candidate should have expertise in immunology and/or the biology and pathogenesis of allergic diseases. The selected candidate will be expected to develop an exciting research program that includes basic and/or translational research with relevance for developing novel prevention strategies, diagnostics, and treatments for these conditions. The incumbent will benefit from opportunities to interact with other members of LAD and DIR who perform basic and translational research on allergic diseases, mast cell disorders, parasitic and other infectious diseases, and primary immunodeficiency syndromes.
The incumbent will have access to state-of-the-art core research support and the NIH Clinical Center, a premier research hospital on the main NIH campus. Candidates will be assigned independent resources to include laboratory support personnel, equipment, space, and an allocated annual budget for services, supplies, and salaries sufficient to foster success. Additional information about LAD and DIR are available online.
Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. A full civil-service package of benefits (including retirement; health, life, and long-term care insurance; and Thrift Savings Plan) is available. Women and people from other groups underrepresented in biomedical research are especially encouraged to apply. U.S. citizenship is not required.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae (CV)/bibliography and a description of the proposed research program (three-page limit). Additionally, three letters of reference must be sent directly from the referees. In your CV, please include a description of mentoring and outreach activities in which you have been involved, especially those involving women and people from other groups underrepresented in biomedical research. All application materials should be submitted to Dr. Sarah Cavanaugh at NIAIDDIRSearch@NIAID.NIH.GOV.
Completed applications will be reviewed starting November 11, 2022 and will be accepted until the position is filled. Interested candidates may contact Dr. Pamela Guerrerio, Chief, LAD, at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information about this position.
