This is an exciting opportunity for a nationally recognized, accomplished, and visionary leader to continue to advance the clinical, research, education, and philanthropic missions of the Department of Radiation Oncology. This new Chair will build on the significant departmental and institutional strengths, research innovation, and superb education in a culture of patient centered care.

The Opportunity

The Radiation Oncology Department at Penn State Hershey is a younger, well-equipped department which enjoys the benefit of access to cutting-edge technology and collaborations between the College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Health, The Penn State Cancer Institute and Penn State University. The Department of Radiation Oncology is part of Penn State Health College of Medicine, offering opportunities to integrate the latest biomedical knowledge and technology with compassionate care of patients. The new Chair, Radiation Oncology will be actively involved in building the Department, creating a robust research infrastructure, promoting innovation, providing outstanding patient care, developing programs, and highlighting differentiation in the marketplace. The Cancer Institute is seeking NCI designation and the Department of Radiation Oncology will be an integral component of a successful submission and earning this prestigious accreditation. 

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate must be a compelling and innovative leader, able to attract high-caliber faculty and research funding while promoting diversity and inclusion in all areas.  The new Chair must be able to collaboratively lead an efficient and effective radiation oncology program with the highest standards of clinical outcomes in a complex and dynamic environment.  This academic leader must be a strategic thinker with the entrepreneurial spirit needed to shape the vision of the department and its impact on the marketplace.

  • M.D. or equivalent degree or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited institution.
  • ACGME accredited residency training in Radiation Oncology and Board-certification.

Hershey, PA is a thriving town in one of the fastest growing regions of the state, with the nearby towns of Harrisburg, Enola, Lancaster, and Lebanon rounding out an attractive variety of cultural and recreational options.
