Dr. Rosenberg is the Chief of Pediatric Palliative Care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Director of Palliative Care at Boston Children’s Hospital, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She received her MD from Stanford University and completed her pediatrics residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Washington (UW). Her additional training includes a Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods and a Master of Arts in Bioethics, both from UW. Her current national leadership positions include the elected pediatrics seat on the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Board of Directors, Chair of the NIH Lifestyles and Behavioral Health study section; prior positions include the Chair of the ASCO Ethics committee, co-Chair of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Scientific Program committee, Chair of the American Cancer Society (ACS) committee for palliative care and outcomes science, and Chair of the Children’s Oncology Group Palliative Care and Patient-Reported Outcomes committees.
Dr. Rosenberg’s scholarship focuses on promoting the quality of life of children, adolescents, and young adults with serious illness. She and her team create programs to promote patient and family resilience, in turn enabling both children and families to thrive. Dr. Rosenberg has been continuously funded by the NIH for her entire career. She has published >250 peer-reviewed manuscripts related to pediatric palliative care, supportive oncology, and survivorship, and has been an invited speaker at >100 national and international meetings. She has received national and international awards for her work, including the 2022 ACS Trish Green Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2023 ACS Pathfinder in Palliative Care Award. Finally, Dr. Rosenberg is dedicated to supporting the next generation of palliative care clinicians and scientists. In 2021, she was selected from over 5000 UW faculty to receive the prestigious University “Excellence in Mentoring” award.
