Elected 2022

Dr. Bourgeois is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a clinician-scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Computational Health Informatics Program. Her work combines clinical epidemiology and informatics-based tools to inform evidence-based practice and therapeutic development in children, with the goal of developing scalable infrastructures to expand capacity for biomedical research in pediatric patients. As principal investigator on several NIH and FDA-funded grants, she has assessed the impact of drug and device policies on product access and use in pediatric populations, and advanced method development for novel clinical trial designs to increase evidence generation for pediatric interventions. Dr. Bourgeois is the Co-Director of the Harvard-MIT Center for Regulatory Science where she directs a fellowship program in regulatory science and leads cross-disciplinary projects partnering with regulatory agency scientists to develop novel methodologies and statistical tools to analyze and integrate clinical datasets for pre- and post-market evaluation of FDA-regulated products. Outside of the U.S., she has served as an Expert Visitor to the European Medicines Agency to evaluate the EU’s pediatric drug legislation. At Boston Children’s Hospital, she is the Scientific Director of the institutional PrecisionLink Biobank and has developed and implemented protocols to build broadly consented patient cohorts and integrate annotated clinical data with a range of biospecimens. With over 20 thousand pediatric patients enrolled, the biobank has grown to one of the largest pediatric repositories nationally and serves as a model for other institutions establishing similar research infrastructure. Her research is motivated by her clinical training and experience in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine.
