Dr. Maryam Asgari is a Professor and the inaugural Endowed Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado Medical School (CU Anschutz).  CU Anschutz is the major academic medical center in the Rocky Mountain region and one of the largest and most comprehensive biomedical research and clinical care centers in the western United States. At CU Anschutz, Dr. Asgari oversees a department consisting of over 40 full-time academic faculty including clinicians, physician-scientists, and PhD scientists involved in full-time research as well as over 70 staff. Dr. Asgari has a strong record of innovative scientific discovery and extensive experience in teaching, research, clinical care, community service and leadership skills. During her tenure as Chair, she has promoted collaborative research throughout the Anschutz Campus and was awarded a multi-million-dollar Anschutz Accelerator Initiative Award to implement a personalized skin cancer screening approach to Colorado Biobank participants. Prior to joining CU Anschutz, she was a Professor of Dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Professor of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School, where she
developed a strong track record of teaching, mentoring and program building. At Harvard, her contributions were recognized with multiple institutional awards including an Honorary Degree (2020). Dr. Asgari’s overarching goal is to provide exceptional clinical care to skin cancer patients, conduct cutting-edge research to expand the knowledge of dermatologic disease management, and teach and mentor trainees while serving her community with the goal of improving personalized dermatologic care delivery.
