Dr. Atul Butte has shown the power of accessing and using the hundreds of billions of publicly available molecular measurements, often ignored by researchers after their papers are published. Dr. Butte conducts his research through integrative genomics across the results of independent experiments (sometimes hundreds) to discover potentially targetable common molecular aspects. To date, he has successfully used this approach to find novel disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and therapeutics for type 2 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and lung adenocarcinoma.
