About the awardee

Whitney Stevens, MD, PhD is a physician scientist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Allergy and Immunology and Department of Otolaryngology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. She earned her dual degrees at the University of Virginia and completed Internal Medicine Residency and Allergy-Immunology Fellowship at Northwestern University. Dr. Stevens’ translational research focuses on chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), a disease characterized by persistent sinonasal inflammation that affects over 10% of the population and costs over $20 billion annually. Her work has advanced both the clinical and mechanistic understanding of CRS pathogenesis, ultimately leading to improved patient care. Dr. Stevens is a recognized leader in the field of CRS with an H-index of 31 and over 80 publications to date. She serves within the practice community by contributing to CRS clinical practice parameters and volunteering in allergy societies including as current president of the Illinois Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. Her research is currently supported by a K23 grant from NIAID, and she has been the recipient of an institutional KL2 grant, the Parker B. Francis Fellowship Foundation Award, the HOPE APFED/AAAAI Pilot Grant Award, and the COVID-19 Fund to Retain Clinical Scientists through the Walder Foundation / Doris Duke Foundation.
