Dr. Oklu graduated from Yale University and received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK.  After receiving his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, he completed a residency in surgery and radiology at Columbia University NY Presbyterian Hospital and a clinical fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.  He remained at MGH for the next 5 years reaching a rank of Assistant Professor.  He was recruited to the Mayo Clinic as a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist.  Over the next two years, he reached a rank of Professor and became the Chair.  He is the Director of the Laboratory for Patient-Inspired Engineering, which is currently funded by five NIH R01 grants, Mayo Clinic and several SBIR grants.  He is also the Founder and CMO of several start-ups; Obsidio Inc., was recently acquired by Boston Scientific.
