Dr. Park is an Associate Professor and Director of Pathology Education and Translational Research in the Department of Pathology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He received his B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale College, and M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He trained in anatomic pathology and hematopathology at Stanford University Medical Center, and conducted post-doctoral training in normal and malignant stem cell biology in the laboratory of Irving Weissman, M.D. After beginning his academic career at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, he moved to NYU in 2016. Dr. Park remains clinically active as a hematopathologist and leads a research group that investigates the molecular mechanisms that regulate hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), particular during aging, as well as in hematologic malignancies including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and the myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Dr. Park is the recipient of an ASH Scholar award, Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Development Award, and Scholar Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has served on or chaired numerous NIH, DoD, and VA MERIT study sections, and serves as the inaugural Chair of the Experimental Hematopathology Committee of the Society of Hematopathology.
