Biographical statement

Anne Marie Lennon, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine, Surgery, Radiology and Oncology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is the interim Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Director of the Multidisciplinary Pancreatic Cyst Clinic. After receiving a medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and a PhD from University College Dublin, Dr. Lennon completed a residency in internal medicine at the Mater Hospital, Dublin and the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. She then completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, followed by an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. She joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins in 2010. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She has over 150 publications including 115 peer reviewed publications, 24 book chapters, and is the editor of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in Practice. Dr. Lennon is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in the management of pancreatic cystic lesions. She is the senior author of the American College of Gastroenterology and co-author of the European pancreatic cyst guidelines. She has led the development of molecular markers to better characterize and guide management for patients with pancreatic cysts. Her second area of interest is in developing markers for early cancer detection. She is one of the leaders of a group at Johns Hopkins which developed CancerSEEK, a multi-analyte protein and circulating tumor DNA marker blood test which detects esophageal, stomach, colorectal, liver, pancreatic, lung, ovarian and breast cancers.
