Dr. Srdan Verstovsek is a Medical Oncologist and Professor in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received his medical degree from the School of Medicine, and Ph.D. degree from the Faculty for Natural Sciences, both at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Dr. Verstovsek completed Internal Medicine Residency at the State University of New York in Buffalo followed by a fellowship in Oncology-Hematology at MD Anderson. He then joined the faculty in the Department of Leukemia at MD Anderson and is currently Chief, Section for Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), in the Leukemia Department, and Director of the Clinical Research Center for MPNs at MD Anderson. Dr. Verstovsek’s clinical and translational research is focused on understanding the biology of and developing new therapies for MPNs. He has been principal investigator of more than 50 clinical trials testing novel therapies for patients with MPN and has published more than 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is actively involved with national MPN patient groups and is frequently invited speaker on these disorders both nationally and internationally. Dr. Verstovsek has also received several accolades and awards, including the Celgene Young Investigator Award for Clinical Research in Hematology in 2010, the Distinguished Alumnus Award, Division of Cancer Medicine Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program at MD Anderson in 2011, the 7th Annual Irwin H. Krakoff Award for Excellence in Clinical Research, Division of Cancer Medicine at MD Anderson in 2013 and the Distinguished Lecturer Award from the Society of Hematology Oncology 2013 Annual Meeting.
