Dr. Ringel is the Ralph W. Kurtz Chair, Professor of Medicine, and Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at The Ohio State University and Arthur G. James Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is the Co-Director of the Thyroid Cancer Unit and of the Molecular Biology and Cancer Genetics Program at Ohio State. Dr. Ringel’s clinical practice focuses on thyroid cancer. His laboratory is interested in defining the signaling pathways responsible for aggressive thyroid cancer behavior, with a goal of defining new therapeutic targets appropriate for patients. His group’s focus has been on the PI3 kinase/AKT pathway, PAK signaling, metastatic dormancy, as well as other signaling cascades that regulate cell motility and invasion. His work includes translational studies in thyroid cancer clinical trials and genetics, with a goal of complete bedside-bench-bedside translation.
