Graham Nichol, M.D. M.P.H., is Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Washington. He is also the Medic One Endowed Chair in Prehospital Emergency Care and Director of the University of Washington Harborview Center for Prehospital Emergency Care. He is Medical Director of the University of Washington Clinical Trial Center, which coordinates the Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium. Dr. Nichol received his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at the teaching hospitals affiliated with UWO. He received his Master of Public Health at Harvard University. Dr. Nichol’s research interests are evaluation and dissemination of intervention to improve outcomes for patients with acute life-threatening illness. He has applied and methodological experience related to design, implementation, analysis and interpretation of evaluations of cardiovascular interventions. This includes systematic reviews, decision analyses and randomized trials of interventions for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock and heart failure. His findings are published in high-impact journals like the Journal of the American Medical Association and Circulation, as well as specialty emergency medicine and resuscitation journals. Dr. Nichol has served on numerous national and international committees including the National Heart Lung Blood Institute’s PULSE Conference; the American Heart Association’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee, planning committee for the Resuscitation Science Symposium, and scientific advisory board of the National Registry for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; the Canadian Institute of Health Research’s Randomized Trials review panel; and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation.
